DATA PRIVACY AT MPS

 
Minneapolis Public Schools safeguards your student's protected data.

We are governed by a set of privacy and protection acts that ensure sensitive education information does not get into the wrong hands. These acts and amendments are:

 

FERPA – FAMILY EDUCATIONAL RIGHTS AND PRIVACY ACT 

FERPA is a federal law that protects the privacy of student education records.

COPPA – CHILDREN’S ONLINE PRIVACY PROTECTION ACT

The primary goal of COPPA is to place parents in control over what information is collected from their young children while they are online. Learn more about COPPA
 

CIPA – CHILDREN’S INTERNET PROTECTION ACT

PPRA – PROTECTION OF PUPIL RIGHTS AMENDMENT

Staff Data Security

It’s not just student data that we want to protect. Staff are expected to use extra precaution when responding to requests for sensitive information.  By learning how to recognize attempts to bypass our security measures, we can help ensure that our sensitive information stays safe within our organization.
